• Tiller Scientific + Medical work for Mobilarm Ltd

  Following the highly successful launch of their Crewsafe V200 at the Defence & Security Equipment International in London earlier this year, Tiller Scientific + Medical client Mobilarm Ltd is receiving interest from defence forces around the world.  While in negotiation with several countries including the US last week they secured firm orders from the Royal Netherlands Navy.

  Developed by Tiller Scientific + Medical, the V200 is an emergency transmitter beacon for submariners.  Compact and intuitive to operate, it is the only product of its type that is serviceable and has passed all regulatory and environmental testing standards.

  “Mobilarm commissioned us because they needed to ensure that V200 would be meticulously reliable and extremely simple to operate in treacherous conditions.  Working closely with the Mobilarm R&D team, we combined both the rigorous quality control processes of Tiller Scientific + Medical and the intuitive design approach of Tiller Design in its development.”  – Robert Tiller

• Innovating Oil

  The result of four years of intense design and development, a Tiller Scientific + Medical innovation - that uses heuristic and adaptive technology - goes into prototyping with Saudi Aramco this month.

  Designed to make the piping of oil safer, cut costs and avoid spills, it is the result of a long-standing relationship with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, where the team have been in operation for several years.

  “Through our association with Saudi Aramco we were able to identify an issue that required truly innovative thinking; coincidently our R&D team had already been working on a technology around a similar problem.  The Tiller Scientific + Medical approach combines our rigorous quality management system with a dynamic design process, so we have been able to develop the solution quite quickly.”  – Robert Tiller.

• Gold at this year’s Industrial Design Excellence Awards.

  Tiller Design with UNSW iCinema Research Centre wins gold with iCAST Advanced Safety and Training Simulator / AVIE - Advanced Visualisation and Interaction Environment / iDOME. Immersive virtual reality simulators.

  "Joining a list of only 31 gold winners worldwide is very satisfying. This is the Oscars of the design world, and it is great to receive such a powerful endorsement for our companies capabilities. We are looking forward to the ceremony in September," Robert Tiller said.

  The IDEA (International Design Excellence Awards) is an international design competition with entries from different areas of design including: Product Design, Ecodesign, packaging, product strategy, interactive design and more. Designers, students and companies worldwide are invited to enter with excellence in design awarded in each of the categories.

• International Conference on Design Management, San Francisco

  Delegates from our office are currently attending the Design Management Conference in San Francisco. We are eager to hear about the latest trends and ideas in this area, and will post some highlights when they return. • 2008 International Industrial Design Expo.

  Robert Tiller, CEO of Tiller Design, has been invited to speak at the 2008 China Wuxi International Industrial Design Expo, the conference will be held from November 8th to 10th and is focusing on the theme “Green Design and Sustainable Development”. We will keep you posted on this event as it gets closer and share Roberts comments.

  “It is going to be a great honor to be part of this vital dialogue in China, and I am looking forward to meeting many people and being part of the sustainable design discussion. To share our experiences will be very exciting. The Industrial Design community around the world stands uniquely positioned to facilitate the change to sustainable practices, and we hope this event can begin action on many fronts,” said Robert Tiller.
